Week one done!

Hello Everyone,

So week one of the project has finished. Of course, the fun parts are still in the works. This week our students compiled a list of questions that they wanted to ask students in the other band. They also came up with a list of topics they feel the other band should know about them.

The lists have been exchanged between the two directors and we are currently sorting through all of them. Students are also working on their initial video introductions in teams. Once those videos are completed we will hopefully be able to share them with each other.

Stay tuned!

Welcome!

Welcome to the "Kimchi and Cornfields" project.

The goal of this project is to connect students in two band rooms on opposite sides of the planet, one in Korea and one in Iowa.

Students in these two bands lead very different daily lives and have experience that, while they may seem commonplace to their classmates, would be very unusual and surprising to students in another culture. We want to help our students identify and share those experiences with each other, and hopefully learn something about themselves in the process. We also hope that these student can find things they have in common. Playing in band is one thing, but we are guessing they have more in common than they think.

It is our hope that through collaboration, pictures, videos, questions and answers these students will connect with each other, both as fellow musicians and as fellow global citizens.

Wish us luck!
